DAAD Lektors

Around 500 DAAD Lektors work at universities in more than 110 countries, mainly teaching German language and literature / German as a foreign language. In some countries, there are also Lektor positions in other subject areas: e.g. Law, Economics, History, etc.

Thus, the placement of Lektors within the DAAD programmes plays an important cultural role in promoting the German language abroad. The necessary funding is made available to the DAAD by the Federal Foreign Office.

In addition to their academic teaching, Lektors represent the DAAD at their respective universities. They provide information about Germany as a place to study and do research and about funding opportunities through the DAAD and other organisations. Furthermore, they advise and support interested applicants, helping them prepare scholarships applications and study or research stays in Germany; they also perform other professional and cultural functions.

You can find out more about the DAAD Lektor programme here (in German language).
